Losing Weight by Adding a Carrot

Here’s the problem: so many of us have busy lives nowadays, what with work, family, and social life – and there’s no good way to make our lives less busy than they are; nor do we want to, most of the time! However, the same features that make for an enjoyable, active lifestyle can also lead to substantial weight gain as the years go on. Not having enough time to exercise, eating at restaurants – our on the go modern lifestyle is usually not at all conducive to weight loss.

So you start looking at weight loss plans – but that, too, presents a challenge. You see, most weight loss plans are complicated, requiring several hours of your already scarce spare time each week – or, in some cases, even each day! Think about it – first you have to do your research, choosing a weight loss program, reading a book, joining a group program, and so on. Then you have to shop for food, prepare special meals, exercise, count fat grams or protein and carbohydrate grams or calories – it all adds up, and one of the leading reasons why weight loss plans fail is that people don’t have the time to follow them properly, to the letter. And following a weight loss plan imperfectly, or following it sporadically, can be harmful; this can lead to yo-yo dieting, guilt, and binging. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a very simple weight loss plan that worked?

Fortunately, there are a few. The ‘add a carrot’ plan is one of these very simple weight loss plans that do seem to work. Now, a plan such as this is probably not the answer if you have a lot of weight to lose, or if your weight is becoming a medical issue. However, if you just want to lose a couple of pounds and improve your overall health at the same time, try this: every time you have a meal or a snack, eat a carrot first. This means a large, peeled carrot – not one of those ‘baby carrots’ that come pre-peeled. Of course, you can use the baby carrots for convenience, but in that case you should eat at least four or five before each meal or snack.

Why does this work? It’s simple. For one thing, the carrot fills you up. It’s a very high fiber, filling, low calorie food. If you eat a carrot before eating anything else, you won’t have as much room in your stomach for other things. Of course, to achieve this purpose, it doesn’t actually have to be a carrot – you could eat some salad, or a few radishes, or even an apple. But carrots are convenient and portable, and you can buy them once a week in bulk, so they seem a good choice.

You can follow the same principle when you’re eating out at a restaurant – because you may not want to pull a carrot out of your bag and start munching away! Instead, you can order a salad with the dressing on the side as an appetizer. Eat the salad and leave the dressing, or if you must, dip your fork into the dressing now and then for a little flavor. Then, when you’ve eaten your salad, order anything else that you want – but pay attention to how full you feel, and don’t stuff yourself past fullness. That’s all you need to do. Over time, you will eat less and you will lose weight.

It’s particularly important to remember the carrot before you have a snack. Many of the calories that busy people consume each day are not consumed at meals, but as snacks. For this reason, it is imperative that you eat the carrot before having anything else, like a muffin or cookie, to stop those snack calories from adding up. And be honest with yourself – if you eat your carrot and you’re not hungry for the cookie anymore, don’t eat the cookie. But if you’re still hungry and you still want it, have it.

The advantages of this plan are multiple. First of all, it’s probably the simplest eating or weight loss plan you’ll ever encounter. There’s only one thing for you to do differently, and that can be summed up in a single sentence. Also, as well as losing weight, you’ll add nutrients to your diet using this plan. Over time, that can lead to better overall health.

Losing Weight in the High Protein Approach

Over the years, one of the most effective ways to lose weight has been high-protein eating. Lately, it has been popularized by diets such as Atkins and The Zone, but it’s actually a much older approach to weight loss, having been around for at least twenty years or more.

High protein eating is a bit controversial, because some critics claim that it can be too high in saturated fat and cholesterol. This can be true, depending on how you approach the program. It is possible to lose weight on Atkins even if you eat a lot of bacon, butter and eggs, but if there’s a history of heart disease in your family, that’s not advisable. The standard Atkins diet is not nearly as high in fat – it stresses healthier sources or protein such as chicken or fish.

A high protein diet limits your consumption of carbohydrates, such as bread, rice and pasta. Most of us eat too much of these foods anyway; in fact, some experts argue that some of us are even addicted to them. It’s true that when you get used to eating these foods, it can be hard to give them up. The Atkins diet forces you to do so during the early stages of the diet. In fact, even fruits and vegetables are limited. In the later stages of following the diet, fruits and vegetables are added back in, so you don’t end up deprived of vitamins and minerals. Another frequent criticism of the Atkins diet is that it deprives you of fruits and vegetables (which everyone agrees are healthy), but this just isn’t true in the long term.

Why does eating a high protein, low carbohydrate diet make you lose weight? The reasons are complex, and related to individual body chemistry. The fact is that eating a lot of processed carbohydrates is a big problem for many of us, because they raise the body’s glycemic index. Cutting out or limiting carbohydrates reverses this process, switching your body in a different gear – it turns into a fat-burning machine. The fact is that the high protein approach is one way in which many people have lost large amounts of weight. Some of these are individuals who have been unable to lose weight using any other diet or weight loss program.

The Zone is a gentler approach to high protein eating, but it is based on the same principle. Unlike Atkins, the Zone allows you to eat a balanced diet of protein and ‘good’ carbohydrates at every stage. Like Atkins, it limits or eliminates processed carbohydrates such as bread, pasta and baked goods. Over time, the Zone is probably as effective as Atkins, though Atkins can have some rapid, spectacular results when you first start following the diet.

Both of these approaches to weight loss should be lifelong changes, rather than diets that you ‘go on’ for a short period of time. Atkins has a ‘maintenance’ phase that allows you to eat a balanced diet, but maintain the eating habits that you have learned so that you don’t gain the weight back. Some experts recommend that if you start to notice your eating habits slipping and pounds creeping back on, you should go back to the first stages of Atkins for a while, and a eat a more restricted diet until you get back on track. Most experts encourage you to forget the old-fashioned idea of ‘going on a diet’ for a short period of time, and then going back to your old habits. That usually doesn’t work in the long term.

Exercise is also a very important part of this and any weight loss program. You can do any type of exercise you like. The best thing seems to be walking, if you do enough of it. In fact, walking for an hour every day might be a better way to lose weight than running two or three times a week. If you make exercise a part of your life, day in and day out, you have the best chances of controlling your weight for a lifetime.

High protein eating plans are not for everyone, but the fact is that they have worked for thousands of people in the past, even those with extreme or stubborn weight problems. Try Atkins or the Zone, or read about them online, to learn the basics and decide whether this diet is for you.

How Sweat Rids the Body of Toxins

The sweat lodge has been used by the indigenous population of the Americas all the way from the Eskimos south to the Mayans. Sweat lodges were used for everything from cure for illness and aching muscles to ridding oneself of evil spirits.

In Europe the Romans used a more elaborate system of saunas while the Scandinavians used a simpler seat lodge similar to the Native Americans. These European cultures realized the diverse benefits of making the body sweat to release toxins. In Finland where the sauna has been a mainstay for over 1,000 years it is estimated that there is one sauna for every seven people!

Making the body sweat using dry saunas helps rid the body of toxic metals that exist in our environment assisting the kidneys in detoxifying the entire body. The sauna is also better to use if weight loss is desired due to the fact that it is harder on the body and burns additional calories. In fact, a 20 minutes sauna session may burn as many calories as a two or three miles jog!

Remember that you are rapidly losing fluids when using a sauna and you need to replenish during and after to avoid any heart rhythm disruption as well as fatigue.

Sweating in a dry sauna also speeds up the metabolism and inhibits the development of bacteria and viruses. It also creates a reaction similar to fever that kills viruses and enhances the immune system. Another huge benefit of dry saunas is that they have been shown to lower blood pressure over time as well. Dr. Andre Lwoff, a French scientist who specialized in studying viruses showed that high temperatures in times of infection fought off viruses. A German physical education specialist by the name of Ernst found that marathon runners had no incidence of cancer which he attributed to their sweating out heavy metals that can cause cancer.

The benefits of using saunas to help your body release toxins on a daily basis have been proven over and over. You will see improved blood circulation, release of heavy metals and other toxins, weight loss, clearer skin and improved immune system response.

Like anything that is taxing on the body you should consult your physician to be sure that it is safe for you to use saunas especially if you are over 60 years old or have a family history of heart disease.

Adopting a Low Carb Diet

Diets have appeared in many different forms, especially fad
diets. Among the problems with these fad diets is that as well
as often leaving you feeling very hungry they can also be
unhealthy and only work for a short space of time. Research has
indicated that the most effective diets are those that can be
adhered to over long periods of time. In the case of fad diets,
weight tends to be very erratic and while you may lose weight
initially it is not unusual to put that weight back on and
eventually increase your weight.

One of the huge benefits of a low carb diet is that you do not
need to feel hungry. This may seem like it avoids the point of
a diet, but it doesn't. The aim of dieting is not to eat less
but to lose weight or eat more healthily. The most famous of
all low carb diets is the Atkins diet and this remains popular
because it allows you to eat good-sized meals and is proven to
help you lose weight.

The basics of a low carb diet are that you can eat as much food
as you like until you are full, as long as you only eat the
allowed foods. Generally speaking, this includes meat, cheese,
fish, eggs and poultry. You are also allowed a certain amount
of green vegetables each day. As well as being a healthy way to
lose weight, a low carb diet will give you a sustained weight
loss meaning you can continue to lose weight even after the
initial push and you will keep the weight off once it is gone.

It will also lower your cholesterol and blood pressure as well
as stabilize your blood sugar level. You should supplement a
low carb diet with multi vitamins because your body will become
partially starved of these essential vitamins.

The Top 13 Weight Loss Tips

Get ready to lose 10 pounds!

By paying attention to the amount of food you eat, eliminating
unnecessary sugar and fat from your foods and making sure you
include absolutely delicious meals and snacks to keep your
taste buds happy.

Use this easy-to-follow and super healthy diet plan to lose the
first 10, the last 10, or any 10 in between! Because it's a
balanced and flexible program, you can stay on this diet as
long as it takes.

Top Fast Secrets

1. Keep track of everything you eat and drink. No need to
estimate calories - just write down the type of food or
beverage and the amount.

2. Cut your fat intake in half, that means half as much
margarine or butter on toast, vegetables and your muffin, half
the mayonnaise on your sandwich, and half the oil in the pan
when you saute foods. You get the idea!

3. Limit the sugar treats to three times per week maximum.

4. Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish,
legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.

5. Eat at least one meatless lunch and dinner each week to
reduce fat, increase fiber, and get yourself into the habit of
building meals around whole grains, beans and vegetables.

6. If you're not currently using skim milk, go down to the
level of fat content in the milk you use. For example, if you
currently use two percent, use only one percent. If you insist
on whole milk, try two percent.

7. Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose
whatever type of fruit is in season.

8. Instead of fruit juice for breakfast or snack, drink water.
Add a slice of lemon or lime for zest.

9. Include two servings of vegetables with lunch and dinner,
for a total of at least four servings per day.

10. Choose one to two servings of foods made from whole grains
with every meal.

11. Shut off the TV whenever you eat - that includes meals and
snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions
when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods
are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!

12. Choose calories you can chew - that means only calorie-free
beverages (except for milk) Sodas are loaded with empty
calories, and fruit juices provide less fiber and vitamins per
calorie than the fruit they're made from.

13. Plan ahead for meals and snacks so you know exactly what
you plan to eat. Last-minute choice tends to be higher in
calories and lower in satisfaction.

Affirmations for Weight Loss

Affirmations are a mainstay of New Age philosophy. In fact, Louse Hay’s book “You can Heal your Life”, which has many affirmations that purportedly have allowed people to transform their lives through affirmations and visualization, gives us a powerful tool in the quest for weight loss. Affirmations, whether you believe in them or not, really seem to work.

What are affirmations? They are simple statements that you repeat to yourself, out loud, looking in a mirror if possible. They are present tense statements starting with “I” – for example, “I lose weight quickly and effortlessly”. Over time, they tend to ‘come true’ with amazing frequency.

Be prepared to feel a bit silly at first – even a bit ‘fake’, if you like. The trick is to keep on saying them, regardless of how it feels. Fortunately, you don’t have to believe in affirmations in order for them to help you lose weight, or change anything else that you need to change about your life. As such, they are very valuable tools. Often, affirmations can help you get over a mental block, and accelerate or jump start your weight loss.

The mystery, of course, is why they work. Our best guess is that they are similar to hypnosis – except, of course, that you ‘hypnotize’ yourself, and you stay in control of the entire process. Affirmations probably bypass the conscious mind and speak directly to the subconscious, which is much more effective at ‘getting things done’ than the everyday conscious mind. After all, many of our barriers to weight loss also originate in the subconscious mind. The subconscious, therefore, is the only place in which they can be changed and improved.

Beyond that, why affirmations work is anybody’s guess. There are many philosophical explanations, to be sure. For example, many people assert that thoughts and beliefs are the most powerful thing in the world, in terms of human motivations, abilities, and actions. There is a famous quote that speaks to that; it is attributed to Henry Ford. The quote is as follows: “Whether you think that you can or that you can’t, you’re probably right”. That is, if you think that you are capable of doing something, you are most likely correct, and you will succeed. If you think you can’t, however, you’re right again. That belief will stop your from succeeding.

The fact is that most of the reasons for people’s weight problems are mental or psychological. They fall into one of two categories, however. Some of us have psychological issues that make it seem safer to carry extra weight. For example, women who have been abused in the past might feel safe, and invisible, if they are overweight. Men don’t look at them the same way. The women feel physically bigger, and more able to look after themselves. All that is fine, in a way, but it comes at the expense of one’s physical health. If your psychological need to keep weight on is at odds with your need to be physically healthy, something has to change. Something has to ‘give’, in short. Affirmations can help you over that hump.

The second psychological reason for people’s weight problems is less deep, but no less problematic. This cause is the development of bad habits, which are, of course, all too easy to develop given the preponderance of fast food and packaged foods, and the mega-portions of high fat food that most restaurants seem bent on serving us, whether we want them or not. Affirmations are very effective in helping people bread destructive eating habits. For example, you could affirm “I resist unhealthy foods” or “I choose mainly fresh, healthy foods”. Chances are, you will soon see results. These may be subtle at first – you may hesitate before picking up that chocolate bar – but quite quickly, new habits will be formed and you will be able to resist unhealthy foods more strongly.

A word of caution, though – affirmations should always be phrased in the positive. Don’t say “I don’t eat junk food”, for example. Phrase them positively – “I eat” or “I choose” – and phrase them in the present tense. That’s the best way of making sure that your affirmations will speak to your subconscious mind quickly and effectively, and that you can begin establishing healthier eating habits.

How to Eat Right in 10 Minutes

It’s Thursday afternoon, you have thirty minutes to get from work, go by the house and pickup Heath, Jamie’s already at basketball practice, oh, and what about dinner? Does this scenario seem familiar? If you’re a working Mom, I can promise that it is a familiar scene.

So how do you make healthy food choices, when you only have fifteen minutes to prepare your meals? Well, the first thing you should realize is that quite often, healthy choices do not necessarily equate to two hour meals. You can make healthy food choices that are as quick to prepare or pickup as the unhealthy ones.

For example, sub sandwiches are a healthier alternative than pizza or burger and fries, but do not really take any longer to pickup. Salads can be prepared in just a few short minutes, and provide for the necessary vegetable daily requirement. Don’ care for the usual salad? Make a Waldorf or fruit salad, either way you’ve changed it up a bit, and still provided a health choice. As for the dressing, oil based or vinegar based dressings are much better for you than the cream based, and are really more tasteful.

Okay, suppose salads aren’t what your kids like. What about other prepared foods that are also healthy foods? Healthy Choice is a brand of frozen entrees or meals that take only a few minutes in the microwave to prepare, and are still healthy alternatives. Baked rather than fried is always a better choice, and many supermarkets today offer baked products fresh from their bakery, ready to go.

Still aren’t satisfied? You want a place to go and actually sit down and eat. There are still many healthy alternatives for a family when going to eat at a restaurant. Restaurants that offer buffet style meals are great choices. Thanks to many of the health conscious consumers out there, buffets have added baked, broiled, and fresh food choices to the display.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are usually always available on food bars, along with broiled or steamed vegetables. Meats are just about as varied, with many of the choices being offered in a fried and baked option. And if you’re up for dessert, watermelons and grapes are just as satisfying as the Boston cream pie.

You can always throw up objections when it comes to healthy eating, the real trick is in realizing it’s your body that will suffer. Or your children that will suffer from the unhealthy choices you make. Why not start with healthy options, set the right example, and you will have children that make health conscious intelligent decisions about their eating.

Okay, now back to our Thursday afternoon juggling act. You’ve dropped Heath at baseball practice, picked Jamie up from basketball, and you have exactly fifteen minutes to make a decision about dinner. As you sit at the red-light contemplating your options, there is a Subway, a Pizza Hut, and a grocery store with a deli in the same shopping center. How can this still be a difficult choice to make?

Stretch Mark Treatment

Stretch mark is a scar caused primarily by stretching of the skin. The stretch mark and its ungainly appearance are the bane of countless women, and men too. Thus, there is no dearth of people flocking to get a stretch mark treatment. Stretch mark treatment encompasses the entire gamut from the cream to the surgeon’s knife.

The stretch mark is a common occurrence along with a glow on the face during pregnancy or when becoming plump. It can be caused by nutritional deficit and taking certain hormones and steroids. According to your complexion, the mark appears as pink, reddish brown or brown and gradually lightens. Stretch mark treatment aims to prevent or hastily remove the mark.

Diet and exercise are integral to stretch mark treatment geared to prevent the appearance of the mark. Stretch mark occurs when the skin loses its elasticity and suppleness. Thus you should have protein-intensive foods like diary products and eggs, Vitamins A, C and D-enriched foods like carrots, oranges and lemon and zinc-containing fish and nuts to maintain a healthy skin.

Drink plenty of water and steer clear off aerated and caffeinated drinks. After all what you eat shows on you!

Also, have your daily quota of exercise in some form or the other. Regular exercise has its proven benefits: a sculpted body, improved blood circulation and healthy, firm skin.

If that obstinate stretch mark simply refuses to budge, you can opt for surgical modes of treatment. There are treatment methods like chemical peels that scrape away at the skin surface, thereby effectively getting rid of the stretch mark.

To remove a stretch mark, the TCA peel is the safest bet. Proven effective against a plethora of skin ailments like acne, pimple and pigmentation, TCA peel is widely used in spas, salons and is the treatment of choice of many dermatologists.

The prime reason for the widespread fame of the TCA peel is that it guarantees immediate results and is completely devoid of side effects, making it safe even during pregnancy and after the birth of the baby.

After a session with the trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel, expect a sun burnt skin on the first day. On the second day, the pigmentation will reduce significantly to resemble a healthy just-back-from-the-beach tan and your skin will feel taut.

In the subsequent days, the skin will peel to a more younger, healthier, porcelain smooth look. And lo and behold, not a hint of a stretch mark either.

Laser therapy is drastic method used to remove the stretch mark. In this treatment, your skin will be subject to laser beams. Thus, either your mark lightens or there is additional pigmentation, so that after the treatment, the stretch mark matches your skin tone.

In an advanced form of stretch mark treatment, laser beams are used to stimulate collagen production, so that you get rid of the stretch mark.

Consult your physician before embarking on any stretch mark treatment. After all, your skin is obliged to a tender care.

Seven Easy Tips for Healthy Weight Loss

Today more than ever there is so much information out there on
losing weight that is has become very confusing and sometimes
difficult to follow. It's actually very easy to lose weight if
you follow my 7 principles.

1. - Before you can start any diet program you need to be in
the right frame of mind. If you do not feel good about yourself
you probably will not want to choose healthy foods. You cannot
expect the act of going on a diet to make you feel better about
yourself. The only way you can choose to eat a healthy diet to
lose weight is if you have a positive self-image.

2. - Learn more about who your ancestors were. If you eat more
like your ancestors you will be eating food that is better for
your body. You will likely lose weight, have more energy and
feel great. It has been shown when a group of people stop
eating the food that was indigenous to them they start gaining
weight and having health problems.

3. - Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you
eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know
how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to
count calories because your body is a wonderful machine. If
given the right nutrients you will be at the best weight for
you, have plenty of energy and feel great. Eating highly
processed empty calorie foods will cause your body to always be
hungry because it's trying to get the nutrients it needs.

4. - Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water.
Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for
food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat
when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry
if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the
thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you
digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help
fill you up.

5. - Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will
ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food.
Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you
will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps
aid in digestion.

6. - Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your
digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time
in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.

7. - Increase your physical activity. Most people are over
weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking
more, bicycling, walk your dog for longer periods of time,
swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It's
important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy
because you'll stick with it. Choosing a physical activity
purely based on the fact that it burns a lot of calories may be
a mistake.

Organic Food

You must have heard about organic food, haven't you? What do
you know about it?

Imagine if your spinach, broccoli, carrots, celery, apples,
oranges, pears, and other fruits and vegetables on your table
do not contain chemical substances. A healthier body will be
yours ever.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA), organic food is produced by farmers to emphasize
renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to
enhance environmental quality for future generations.

This food is produced and processed without using any synthetic
ingredients or chemical substances which can disrupt the balance
of nature.

Do you know what that means? Yes, organic food production is
better for our environment.

Meanwhile, organic meat, eggs, poultry, and dairy products are
produced by not using growth hormones and antibiotics. Wow,
that's supposed to be healthy and safe for your body.

Consuming organic food is indeed an investment to a healthier
life in the future. Making it a daily menu for the family is a
healthful idea as well.

What is the standard of organic food?

The USDA has established a set of national standard that
"organic" labeled food must meet.

One of them is the farm condition, whether it follows the rules
necessary to meet the USDA organic standards. For instance,
there must be no prohibited substance for 3 years on land.

Certification to the companies that process or handle the
organic food before it reaches local supermarkets or
restaurants is also required.

How to tell if certain food is organic? See a label on the food
package or watch for signs in the supermarket.

Costly, yet healthy

Unfortunately, you may find that organic food is rather more
expensive from non-organic one. One of the reasons is organic
food needs more farmers to handle the production as they weed,
for example carrots and onions, by hand.

So it's clear than consuming organic food is not simply about
eating. Again, it is a future asset. Not only is it beneficial
for our environment but also for our health, our family's
health.

Diet Food Doesn't Have to be Boring

Not too long ago, my mother and I were talking about food and
diets. "Your grandmother used to feed you pasta five nights a
week," my mother insisted.

"She did not!" I exclaimed, stung. After all, I remembered my
grandmother as a wonderfully varied cook who could make
anything taste wonderful. She served all sorts of meals, not
just pasta! There was spaghetti, of course - she was Italian,
after all. But she also made Ziti with vegetables. And
Linguine. And tuna casserole with. ..elbow macaroni. By the
time I'd finished naming off a typical week's worth of menus, I
had to concede my mother's point - but I made mine as well.
"But... it didn't FEEL like we were eating pasta every night!"

There's a point to this story, I promise, and here it comes:

One of the biggest reasons that people slip off their diets and
eating plans is BOREDOM.

It's very easy to look at the foods allowed on your diet and
see it as restrictive and boring. Chicken four nights a week.
Fish three times a week. Green leafy vegetables till they're
coming out of your ears. Who wouldn't get bored?

The answer is - anyone with a good set of cookbooks and a
healthy imagination. Perk up your cabinet with spices and fill
your refrigerator with fresh fruits and vegetables, then look
for novel ways to combine them.

Here are a handful of tips for non-boring, healthy, low-cal
eating

1. Spice it up!

Spices are one of the quickest ways out of the diet doldrums.
Rosemary and fennel with chicken, mint rubbed into pork, pepper
and lemon mint on fresh fish - the 'blander' the food, the
higher the effect of the spices.

2. Dress it up.

Fruit vinaigrette dressings make wonderful marinades for
meats and dressings for warm or cold vegetables. Try broccoli
drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette or cabbage spiced up with
apple vinegar and pepper.

2. Herb-infused olive oils - tarragon, ginger, fennel and more.

3. My brother the chef gave me a set of three oils for
Christmas one year and it completely changed the way I'll cook
forever!

4. Low sodium soy sauce is a great way to flavor up just about
anything.

5. Fruit

The bitterness of dark leafy greens like spinach were
practically designed to be eaten with mandarin oranges,
raspberries or chunks of pineapple.
